My favorite bi-annual investment conference was in Toronto in the Fall of 2019. I thought it sounded fun and since I would be six months pregnant I determined it was our one shot at a Babymoon. We had a rocky start to the trip with delayed flights, major turbulence and arriving to the city after midnight.
We hit the ground running the next day to enjoy this multi-cultural city. We went downtown to see the waterfront, the harbor, Jay Birds stadium and CN Tower. This tower is the ninth largest building in the world. We also toured different restaurants and markets. The food markets here are famous and we enjoyed a few different ones during our week here.
On Sunday, we decided yet again to be adventurous. Jordan had never been to Niagara Falls. We rented a car on a whim and drove to the Falls. The falls are always amazing and interestingly the loud sound makes a baby kick. We walked around the small town of Niagara and checked another Hard Rock off the list.
During the week, we explored some other areas of Toronto. During a lunch break, I ventured to the main public library. While I do love a good library, interestingly enough they have a special room devoted to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. It was odd but quite memorable. The various editions of my favorite book, Sherlock Holmes, were quite a site.
I also got to visit one of the major Canadian museums. It was like a different Smithsonian and very wide ranging in exhibits. The museum is most known for its design as the older building has an addendum that is a cubist design.
As I always try the local cuisine, I hunted and found gluten-free poutine. As I had tried it before in a smaller town in Canada, I determined yet again I am not a fan. Jordan enjoyed the beers, as they brew a good lager. They also had such good restaurants for any type of food.
Toronto was a nice break. The city felt very global but also not quite Canadian. We do not have to go back again, as we saw the major sites.
As always, the second child does get treated differently. This was not anything like our first babymoon in Europe....so here's to another adventure with a girl!
