Punta Cana - an actual vacation

Over the past two years, most of our friends have turned 40.  For Jordan's 40th, I threw him a lake bash.  For his friends, his wonderful wife organized an actual adult trip to an all-inclusive hotel in the Dominican Republic.   Now on my travel bucket list, I had none of these items.  However, when a group of 18 adults manages to agree to go to the Caribbean to a nice place, you go.

We had some flight delays on our flight, but with one of us getting an upgrade and it being non-stop, it ended up fine.   After our delay and the trip everyone wanted to get to the hotel but it was about an hour ride.  Luckily our trip included personal SUV transportation so one very comfortable drive later, we made it to the resort, a very nice resort!

We woke up early each morning to talk to the kids and went down as breakfast opened to eat, drink mimosas and get the first beach chairs.   Each morning while our friends lingered, we sat on the beach drinking, reading books and swimming in the ocean.  Then by lunchtime we could all hang-out together.   We went to dinner early and hung out with anyone around before their 9pm dinner time.

We went on a boat in the ocean for a morning and had the best time.    We started with snorkeling, went around the Bay and then had some time to swim in the clear blue water.

We really enjoyed this trip, especially time with our friends - some new, some lifelong.    And remember how I said this wasn't on my bucket list?   Well, at the airport, there is a new lounge that has a pool overlooking the runways, so I checked off swimming at an airport off my bucket list!
